In drawing on Biblical language to express erotic passion, Winterson resists the popular cultural image of perfect rapprochement, the merging of self and other typically ascribed to the lesbian couple. From her first book, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit (1985), to her most recent fictions, Winterson has consistently drawn on Biblical language and religious experience to produce her own exalted discourse of passion. Winterson's narratives of romantic love and sexual passion seek in a different form the experience of perfect union with another demonstrated in the ecstatic practices of charismatic Christianity. Throughout her literary works, Jeanette Winterson describes sexual passion in the language and with the understanding of a parallel and informing spiritual faith and compassion. ![]()

Blitzkrieg reappears and is handled easily. (Someone PLEASE teach him how to draw Batman!) We then cut to the present day where Batman and Nightwing are taking on some small time crook in Germany. During these panels, we see campy dialogue and poor visuals from Flanagan. The story starts off with a flashback, Batman and Robin taking care of the silly villain Baron Blitzkrieg. Other than that I would not be reading this, and here’s why: The only thing that should have people buying this book, is the simple fact that Bruce Wayne is Batman in this story. Unfortunately for Bat fans, Smith and Flanagan haven’t improved. And Walter Flanagan continues his struggles in drawing the Dark Knight.
